SafeParish is the training model used in conjunction with the Decree on Child Protection of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Anyone having contact with children as a volunteer or Archdiocese employee must be trained in the Decree. All other Catholics of the Archdiocese are urged to be familiar with its contents as well.
To gain approval for volunteering or working with children there are several requirements which must be met before approval will be granted. The steps are easy, affordable, and streamlined, knowing how valuable your time is.
- As a Volunteer or employee, you are required to register with SafeParish and have an “online” background check done. To access or register for your SafeParish account go to http://www.aocsafeenvironment.org.
- You can also do your “online” background check when you register for a class. It is easy and the $25.00 cost can be charged to your credit card. We do not offer tokens for background checks. By having your background done at the same time you register for a Session, you help streamline the process and reduce the amount of time it takes to gain approval. It can also be done directly through www.selection.com.
- The last requirement is to stay current with your SafeParish account.
Employee background checks are done through Selection.com just like volunteers. In addition, all employees have to sign a B4 form for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, submit to a BCI manual fingerprint and in many cases FBI fingerprints because of state licensure. Many professional positions require manual re-prints to renew license.
