Curriculum

The curriculum adopted by the school is based on the course of study, Teaching for the 21st Century, adopted by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and in accordance with the minimum standards of the State of Ohio. The school calendar and schedule for classes and activities meet, and in some areas exceed, the minimum standards for Ohio elementary schools and the Archdiocesan Education Commission.

  • St. William follows the Graded Course of Study curriculum in accordance with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
  • St. William is a high performing school. Based on the Iowa Test of Basic skills, students consistently perform well.
  • Our eighth-grade students perform well on the High School Placement Test with a high percentage receiving high school scholarships.
  • Small class sizes with an average teacher to student ratio of 15:1.
  • All students attend special classes including Music, Art, Physical Education, and Library.

Access to Technology

We utilize GradeLink, an online grading system that parents can access to see their child’s progress in each class.

  • State of the Art Technology:
    • We embrace technology: wireless internet, interactive Promethean ActivPanel boards, providing a tablet-like surface in front of every classroom.
    • K-3 tablet program, 4-8 Chromebook program and science lab.

Service

Service is the heart of the St. William culture.  Teachers strive to instill a sense of giving in our school and community.

  • Students in grades 4-8 have the opportunity to sing in the Children’s Choir at weekly Masses.
  • Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to become altar servers.
  • 8th grade students participate in all-school liturgies through lectoring and Eucharistic Ministry.
  • Each week a different grade level plans the liturgy, and participates at Mass through petitions and offertory.
  • Once a week 6-8th grade students participate in service hours throughout the school campus through various activities including cleaning of the church, tidying the campus, and helping with children in the younger classes to name a few.
