Catholic Identity

“Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students.”

At Saint William, we are committed to providing an educational environment that integrates student life with faith-based learning and philosophies.  Saint William isn’t just a center for academic achievement; it is a unique community where shared values help students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.  Students receive a foundation that prepares them for the future challenges of life and helps them develop into responsible, considerate adults.

Catholic Faith Instruction

Religion is a core academic subject at Saint William, with daily classes based on the religious education curriculum developed by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to learn about the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.  While students do not have to be Catholic to attend Saint William, every student is expected to participate in religion class.

Liturgy

Students attend an all-school Liturgy once each week and on Holy Days of Obligation.  They also participate in other traditional prayers and devotions according to the seasons of the Church calendar such as the Stations of the Cross and May Crowning. K-8 students are required to attend weekly Mass on Wednesdays at 8:30 am. Family members are invited and encouraged to join us in these spiritually enriching services.

Sacramental Preparation

Catholic students enrolled at Saint William are prepared for the reception of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation on a continuing basis during daily religion classes.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

  • In second grade students are prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for First Holy Communion.
  • Students are given the opportunity to participate in Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.

First Holy Communion

Second grade students prepare for their First Holy Communion throughout the school year and participate in Jesus Day, a mini-retreat the Friday prior to First Communion where they also practice their songs and responses.  Parents are encouraged to participate.

Sacrament of Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is available to the 7th and 8th grade students of St. William School and Parish.  Special preparation is taken by all students through school or through the Regional PSR program for those not enrolled at St. William School.  Students participate in community service and a retreat is held prior to Confirmation in preparation for the sacrament.  Our next Confirmation will take place in 2024.

Community Service

Throughout the school year students participate in community service projects that foster their personal and spiritual growth.  Projects include canned food drives, assisting with younger grades, campus wide clean up days, care of the church to name a few.
